This video explains all about split edits in a very interesting and original way. The way it does this is while filming this video they start to do the things that they are talking about, such as L cuts and J cuts, pay close attention and see if you can spot where they start doing it.
Other editing techniques used in films are fade and dissolve. These are two different transitions between shots in films. Fade in is when the screen is black and slowly and image becomes visible until it is clear, fade out is the other way around.
